I’m a Professor at Universidade Federal de Campina Grande (UFCG), in Brazil. I’m in the Computer Science Department, where I:

Teach Data Science, Data Visualization, Software Development, and Research Methods to Computer Science grad and undergrad students. I’ve also taught Art & Technology and Data Visualization to journalists, artists, and architects.

Research Data Visualization, Music Information Retrieval, Data Science, Civic Tech, Machine Learning, and Social Computing. I maintain a list of publications.

Lead a Lab called Lab Analytics that does R&D on Civic Data Science and has developed several data-centric projects and products.

Supervise MSc and Ph.D. students, working with and learning from some very talented people.


I’m also active in the Brazilian hacktivism community, and I tend to maintain several personal projects on the intersection of computing, art and politics.
